It’s a full windows 10 machine, there isn’t reduced functionality as it is a tablet meaning it can still be a rather powerful computer. But another advantage is if you don’t anticipate needing a lot of storage, you can buy the 128gb model of the i5, and then if you are low on space, you can easily put in a microSD which remains permanently under the kickstand for upgraded storage.įor: Convertible form factor and ability to quickly detach or flip the keyboard to the back of the device is flawless and you don’t get false keystrokes when pressing it when flipped around as well because the keyboard will be disabled until at the front of the device again.Įxpandable storage, albeit a slow microSD, but if you know your needs and you don’t need fast storage this can be much better than upgrading the surface internal ssd when buying because that is really expensive. Additionally, the battery is not great, sure I can easily push it 8 hours most days, but that is with the brightness at around 10-15, wifi off and battery saver on. But if you go for the i5 model, you don’t get a fan and the CPU thermal throttles so don’t expect amazing performance doing more intensive tasks.
If you just need it for note taking then I wouldn’t go for the i7 model, but I wouldn’t go for the i3 model either because it only has 4gb ram.
I have the sp7, it’s great because you can go from typing then without a hassle flip the keyboard over the back without needing to remove it.
